Yet another snow day. I'm fairly sure tomorrow will be more of the same, because today was more ice than anything else, and I do believe it's now raining outside, which means the whole county should be a freakin' ice rink by morning. Technically, I'm supposed to be at a school board meeting right now, since I'm on the finance review committee as the requisite parental input person, but if it's not canceled, it ought to be, and I'm not skating my way over there to find out.
Josie is watching Zach and Cody right now on Disney. I haven't let her watch the silly show before, because I think it will rot her brain and also because I'm concerned that it will be inappropriate. I know I can't keep her watching little kid shows forever, and she does watch a LOT of Discovery channel. I know a lot of her friends probably watch this show, and I don't want her to be left out. I know what it's like to have no idea what people are talking about. But, I'm concerned that it's a little inappropriate, and God, it's SO STUPID. At least it seems to be for a younger crowd than, say, Drake and Josh, which I completely don't allow. But, ugh. Gross.
Anyway, I'm sure it will be another interesting day stuck in the house tomorrow. Whee!

I'm really jealous of everyone and their snow days. So lucky. I really would love a random day off of work!
I let Kaeli watch Zach and Cody. Mostly because if I watch TV with her, I want it to be something mildly amusing. Plus, they are the ones who played Adam Sandler's son in Big Daddy, and they were just so cute then!
I think she has picked up a little sarcasm and smart ass-ness (i know that is not a word). I could blame the show, but it's probably just hereditary!
I let micah watch that show and Ive actually never questioned it. He has been watching Drake and Josh for about a year now as well and I do question that sometimes. Im always in the room with him and we talk about some of the older stuff (like why the hell does Drake always have to be kissing someone?!) but I've never considered not allowing it. I have more trouble with commercials than I do with those shows.
They ask for Simpsons a lot and that is definately another category all on its own. I was never allowed to watch that growing up and so I try to allow them some of it, but there are very few episodes that I would see as appropriate.
We're now on Day 3 of being snow/icebound and I may be going INSANE soon. Care to join me?
TV taught both my kids to read before kindergarden...they LOVED to watch with the captions on. I was a 22 year old with two kids under two and did NOT handle my responsibilities very well.
That being the case, both of my kids are extremely smart, one is a junior in college (pre-med) on a full scholarship, the other just got a full ride to college, for biochem. So, while there are probably better alternatives, I don't think TV is as evil as it is made out to be at times.
Lisa watches Z&C sometimes. It is silly, but so is she, and I don't mind a little silliness. I'm very jealous of your snow days. We've had lots of snow, just never at the right times to get a snow day (weekends, evenings). Our snow-clearing crews are pretty efficient, damn them.
